Apple Devices use a “zero configuration network” (Zeroconf) protocol called Bonjour. This protocol, designed for home networks,  enable the automatic and easy discovery of computers, devices, and services on IP networks - eliminating the need to set up IT servers for services such as Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, DNS, and DNS Service Directory.

At the enterprise, there are two downsides of the Apple Bonjour protocol - Bonjour generates a lot of chatty traffic or “noise” on the network, and it cannot go across subnets or Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs).
